Family Fun Night

We had such a fun night, I decided it had to be documented! I really am enjoying this blogging thing. (Holly, you are the best).
It was Saturday night and it had been a long day. Trevor did his usual work schedule of deliveries starting at 4 a.m. that morning and I had spent most of the day trying to finish up Christmas shopping. Camryn is now 9 and is very responsible. We have started leaving her in charge of the kids for and hour or two during the day. She is great at it! It also helps that we always have our cell phones handy for the very important tattling that must occur. The kids had stayed at home most of the day although Josh did get "buddy time" with Dad. (Ice cream sundaes at Arctic Circle). It felt like one of those days that I wish had more hours in it so I could get everything done that I need and have to... plus get to see and spend time with the kids. When I got home I decided we needed to do a family project together. We haven't done many of these in the past because we always had a little one who couldn't do everything the others could. Well, now our "baby" is 4 and we LOVE this stage in life! Home made Christmas ornaments sounded like fun so I found a salt dough recipe and went to work. We rolled out the dough and used cookie cutters for fun shapes. We even made each of our names!

We baked them in the microwave for 4 minutes and voila! We were ready to paint.

I was amazed at how easy they were and how much fun the kids had. We painted and used lots of glitter and imagination. I love that even Trevor had a great time doing "knick-knack-patty-crafts" We dated each one and the kids we so excited to hang them on our tree. So much fun. I love our family!!!

Cherry Holiday Weekend in Utah

Trevor's side of the family has a wonderful tradition of getting together the first weekend in December and traveling down to Salt Lake City. The main attraction is seeing the beautiful lights at Temple Square together. We decided to join Grandma Cherry and all the other Aunts, Uncles, and cousins this past weekend. We stayed with Brandon and Holly of course and had such an awesome time. We love, love, love, hanging out with them and our kids have so much fun playing with the cousins. Uncle Brandon set up the network of computers for all the kids and had fun playing against each other. Holly and I even got to go out shopping for Christmas presents! We met the rest of the Cherry gang at Sizzler for dinner and then off the Temple Square. Our kids have never had an opportunity to walk around at the temple and they were so excited to go. Thought it was very chilly outside, the kids were in awe of the beautiful Christmas lights and warm spirit we felt there. It was wonderful to be in such a beautiful spiritual place with our little family and our extended family. I think our family favorite spot was at the reflection pond. In the center of this huge pond were statues of Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus. In the surrounding water were little clear bubble like bulbs with tiny lights that illuminated the the center. It was gorgeous! I love that the kids were able to experience the sights and feelings of the Savior's birth. I know this will be a weekend they will remember forever.
